Recently, IPSTAR Australia attended the nbn Supplier Awards Summit hosted by nbn CEO, Stephen Rue. We were excited to gain further insights into nbn’s vision and plans for Australia’s digital future, sitting alongside other valued partners of nbn, who are all working to lift Australia’s digital capability. The day concluded with awards being granted to those partners who play an important role in executing nbn’s plans and vision – we are delighted to announce that IPSTAR were amongst the winners!
Reinforcing our ongoing commitment to regional and remote Australia, IPSTAR Australia’s new Sky Muster Plus 3.0 plans won the nbn Excellence in Regional Australia award.
“After pausing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the nbn Supplier Summit and Awards recently returned for the first time since 2019 to recognise and thank nbn’s valued partners and suppliers.
Awards were presented across nine categories to recognise the key role suppliers play in enabling the build and operation of the nbn network, and in delivering on our company’s purpose and strategy.
We acknowledge and congratulate the deserving winners and nominees.”

Overcoming data anxiety and remote limitations
Unlimited access to data is something most Australians living in metro Australia take for granted. The concept of data anxiety – having to monitor how much data you use and when you use it – isn’t a huge concern. In fact, it probably isn’t a concern at all.
In remote Australia that simply isn’t the case. We know it, nbn know it, and this award win and the day of knowledge sharing with nbn, is testament to the fact that we are working together to continue to meet the expectations of remote dwelling Australians, so that data anxiety becomes a long-forgotten terminology.
Regional users have always had to be vigilant, keeping track of what online games the kids are playing, choosing when to stream a favourite TV series, or any other number of data intense activities. If users aren’t careful, they run the risk of chewing through their data allowance and unable to do the things that really matter, like running a business, attending a remote class, or connecting with friends or family.
The new Sky Muster Plus plans and connection are all about resolving this.
Working in lockstep with nbn to bring this initiative to fruition, IPSTAR Australia were engaged with the conceptual, deployment and post-rollout stages of the project, collaborating on user behaviour analysis, gaining insights on network congestion and working with the parameters of available bandwidth.
This collaborative process allowed IPSTAR Australia to understand that Sky Muster Plus would be a constantly evolving product, and that by diving deeper into user trends and making relevant adjustments, IPSTAR Australia could always get the most out of the available bandwidth.
Fast, reliable connectivity for all
Designed to be the best value satellite service for homes and small businesses, the Sky Muster Plus 3.0 plan connects the nbn network to some of the most remote corners of Australia. Although some limitations still exist within peak time use, improvements in bandwidth utilisation has ensured that more users have access to something, not just a few with access to everything.
Ultimately, regional Australians now have access to more data than ever before. Compared with subscriber user patterns in the lead up to the change, there’s been an average increase of 25% in network activity on Sky Muster Plus between the hours of 8am and 4pm each day – something that wasn’t possible before. This extra data allowance has resulted in regional users being able to consume more data and access more essential services, just like their fellow Australians in metropolitan areas.
And it is these reasons, and our commitment to removing data anxiety for rural Australia, that has meant we can be honoured with the award from nbn for Excellence in Regional Australia. Thank you to nbn for your support and understanding!
Congratulations to fellow award winners, all making that crucial difference in moving Australia into a better digital future:
