IPSTAR Australia is proud to announce that we have achieved ISO 27001 certification, the international standard for information security management systems (ISMS).
ISO 27001 assists organisations in identifying, assessing, and managing risks related to information security. It is an internationally recognised standard that sets out the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an information security management system. By implementing ISO 27001 controls, businesses safeguard sensitive data from unauthorised access, breaches, and cyber threats.
“Achieving ISO 27001 certification is a significant milestone for IPSTAR Australia,”
said Dan Mandich, General Manager at IPSTAR Australia.
“This rigorous certification process reinforces our commitment to information security and ensures that we have the necessary people, processes and technology in place to protect our customers’ data.”
Why is this Certification Essential for your Connectivity Provider?
Data Protection and Compliance: Customer trust is paramount. As a connectivity provider, we have made every effort to ensure your data is safeguarded from unauthorised access, breaches, or misuse with the highest level of security measures possible.
Trust: With the increasing prevalence of cyber threats and data breaches, customers need to be more discerning about the security practices of the companies they engage with. ISO 27001 certification serves as a tangible reassurance that we take our customer’s data security seriously and are committed providing our customers high availability and connectivity.
Globally Recognised: A key reason for embarking on ISO 27001 certification is its global recognition as the standard for information security management systems. The certification tackled issues that may not yet be present in Australia, meaning IPSTAR Australia is prepared for both current and future ISMS threats.
“By effectively managing information security in accordance with ISO 27001 standards, IPSTAR Australia helps to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organisation’s information assets, builds trust with customers and partners, and signals an essential commitment to security excellence in the telecommunications industry. With ISO 27001, IPSTAR Australia assures customers and stakeholders that all sensitive information is handled with the utmost care and protection”
said Damian Reid, Head of Technology & Operations.
A dedicated, ongoing commitment to Data Security
The implementation of the ISMS and the Certification, which took 12 months, was executed by a team spanning IT, Security, Risk Management, Compliance and Management. The remit covered risk assessments and gap analysis before developing a bespoke ISMS tailored to our needs and objectives. The ISMS was first audited internally, before the independent certification body evaluated our documentation and conducted interviews to validate our ISMS’s effectiveness.
The final stage of certification saw us rolling out comprehensive security awareness training to ensure the learnings were passed through to the entire company and upheld as part of our daily operations.
Achieving ISO 27001 is not a one-off effort to improve data security practices. It signifies a long-term commitment to uphold compliance and bolster our information security posture in an ever-changing digital landscape.
